What kidslab.lk collects when you register for a seminar or subscribe to updates, why we hold it, who else processes it, and how to have it deleted.

Who we are

kidslab.lk is a Robotics & AI academy for children aged 9–14, operated by VM Lumic (Pvt) Ltd. We are the controller of the personal information described here.

VM Lumic (Pvt) Ltd, 1/108, Pelawaththa Circle Road, Hittatiya Central, Matara 81000, Sri Lanka. Email info@kidslab.lk, phone +94 76 397 7035.

What we collect

We collect only what a given interaction needs.

  • Seminar registration — the parent's or guardian's name, email address, phone number, the child's first name and age, and the district you selected. Submitted by you through the registration form.
  • Email updates — your email address, when you subscribe through the footer or the subscribe prompt.
  • Website account — if you create an account, your name, email address and sign-in details. Accounts are handled for us by Clerk; we never see or store your password.
  • Usage data — pages visited, approximate location by country/region, device and browser type, and how you reached the site. Collected through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

Children's information

Our classes are for children aged 9–14, but our forms are written for the parent or guardian, and we ask that an adult completes them. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child.

We deliberately ask for as little about the child as the class needs: a first name and an age, so the teacher can place them in the right group and greet them correctly. We do not ask for a child's school, address, photograph, date of birth or identification.

If you believe a child has given us information without your involvement, email us and we will delete it.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

Registration details are used to confirm your seat, send you the joining link and reminders, and answer questions about the class — that is, to perform the service you asked for.

Marketing emails about future seminars and courses are sent on the basis of your consent, given when you subscribe. Consent is not a condition of registering for a seminar.

Analytics is used to understand which pages help parents and which do not. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or to make automated decisions about anyone.

Who else handles your information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site:

  • Brevo — sends our transactional and marketing email.
  • Clerk — handles account sign-in and sign-up.
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — website analytics.
  • MongoDB Atlas — the database the site's records are stored in.
  • We will also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies

Some cookies are needed for the site to work at all — keeping you signed in, remembering that you have dismissed a prompt. Others are set by Google Analytics to count visits.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones will stop sign-in from working; blocking analytics cookies changes nothing you can see.

How long we keep it

Registration records are kept while you remain in contact with us and for two years afterwards, so that we can answer questions about a class your child attended.

Subscriber email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained on Google's standard schedule.

When a retention period ends, or when you ask us to erase your information, the record is deleted rather than archived.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@kidslab.lk and we will respond within 30 days.

Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at https://kidslab.lk/unsubscribe. Unsubscribing stops the marketing email; it does not cancel a seminar seat you have booked.

Security

Traffic to and from the site is encrypted in transit. Access to registration records is limited to the people who run the academy, and admin accounts are protected by a password and two-factor authentication.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we use your information will be announced by email to subscribers before they take effect.
