Why online works for Kandy families
In the hill country, distance is really about time. A place twenty kilometres outside Kandy can be an hour each way, on roads you don't want your child on after dark. That rules out most evening classes. An online session gets around this. For a lot of Central Province families, the travel is the reason they never start.
Classes are taught in English, with Sinhala explanations where they help. For most Kandy families, that's how science is already taught at school. If you'd rather read the details in Sinhala, the Sinhala version of this site is at /si.
Questions from Kandy
Are there robotics classes for children in Kandy that don't need a trip into town?
kidslab.lk is taught fully online, so a child anywhere in Kandy district joins from home, whether that's Gampola, Katugastota, Peradeniya or the town itself. There's no branch to travel to, in Kandy or anywhere else.
What internet connection does my child need in the hill country?
A normal home broadband or 4G connection is enough. The sessions are made to work on the kind of connection most Sri Lankan homes have, not on a fast one. Your child will need a laptop or desktop for the programming parts, because the tools are awkward to use on a phone.
Start with the free seminar
Day one is a free introductory session, and you don't have to enrol afterwards. It's an easy way to see whether this suits your child before you pay anything.

Other districts
kidslab.lk has no branch in Kandy. Classes are taught live online from the academy's office at Hittatiya Central, Matara — registration is online too.
